WHAT IS THE ACTIVATOR METHOD?
In the late 1960’s a revolutionary idea evolved into the now most widely used “low force” chiropractic technique known as Activator Methods. The activator technique incorporates the latest advances in orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic testing along with a unique system of administering spinal adjustments.
This method utilizes specific procedures to detect vertebral subluxations and dysfunction in the nervous system so that we can begin the process of restoring your health and well-being. To correct the subluxation we use an instrument called the Activator. This unique hand-held device was scientifically designed to deliver a safe, quick, light and effective adjustment without causing undue strain to patients. Certified and proficiency rated Doctors of Chiropractic receive extensive ongoing training in this cutting edge and highly scientifically researched technique.
SERVICES
INITIAL CONSULTATION
During your initial consultation you will meet with the doctor and discuss your health history. The doctor will then conduct a physical examination before scheduling a secondary appointment to discuss the findings of your examination and will work with you to create a suitable treatment plan. X-rays are included in the cost where necessary and are taken in our office.

subsequent ADJUSTMENTS
The chiropractor will evaluate you and check for any signs and symptoms to identify the joints of the spine or the extremities that may be the source of complaints before delivering your adjustment.

MEET THE DOCTORS
Dr. Antonio Ottaviano
I have always been passionate about helping people. Being the eldest of four siblings, I have been driven from an early age to provide aid in any way I can. This comes out in my approach to care--if I can help I will do what I can - but if I feel I cannot help, I will be the first to say so and do my best to assist my patients in finding the care that best suits them, matching their needs and wants with another professional within our healthcare system.
I was born and raised in St. Catharines and have been passionate about my community. I chose to return to the Niagara region after attending Western University and then Life College. Graduating as a chiropractor in 2010, I continued in my specialized study of pre and postnatal care and took extra time to study pediatric care for the growing families in our community.
I live in St. Catharines with my wonderful wife, a chiropodist in Niagara and my amazing daughter. I have a passion for playing and coaching soccer, camping, hiking, and gardening. I spend the majority of my free time growing food for my own family and I love sharing my produce and wisdom.
Dr. Tony Ottaviano
At the age of 14 I was first treated by a chiropractor and experienced excellent results. The connection between the spine, the nervous system and the health of the body intrigued me at an early age. Further studies in biology and physiology confirmed the importance of the spinal alignment and optimal nervous system function and its relationship in maintaining health in the body.
I was raised in Port Colborne, Ontario surrounded by a large family. I then traveled to Marietta, Georgia to pursue my studies in chiropractic at Life College, graduating in 1980. I opened Glendale Chiropractic soon after and have been using the Activator Methods approach ever since.
Throughout the years I have developed a variety of interests including obtaining my private pilots license, coaching competitive soccer, gardening, carpentry, and most recently bee keeping. As of late I've enjoyed being an active grandfather and all it entails.
I have been practicing for 43 years and continue to be amazed at what the body can do when subluxations are corrected, restoring health and function. It is in seeing my patients health, vitality and well being restored that keeps me excited about practicing day in and day out after all these years.
FAQ'S
Do I need a referral from a physician to attend the clinic?
Physician referrals are not required. Let us know if a friend or family member attends our clinic when you call to schedule your initial appointment. We appreciate all referrals from our patients!
Are your services covered by private/employer health insurance?
Check with your benefits company to find out if you are eligible to receive coverage for chiropractic care. Most plans include chiropractic.
Do you direct bill to insurance companies?
We do not direct bill in our office but are more than happy to supply you with a printed or emailed receipt to submit to your insurance company after your payment!
What can I expect when I come to the office for the first time?
We are committed to the comfort, well being and acceptance of all of our patients. We also understand that for some, visiting a health facility can bring feelings of discomfort. It is our goal to ensure all patients feel cared for and at ease while attending our clinic.
When you come in for your appointment, you will have time with the doctor to discuss your concerns, goals and answer any questions you have. Your consultation will include a physical examination. There is no obligation to commit to chiropractic care on your first visit.
What should I wear to my first appointment?
Please do your best to wear clothing that does not have buttons and zippers and we ask that you limit any metal and/or body jewelry. Sportswear or work out clothing is always a good choice as well!
Where are you located?
We are located at the bottom of Burleigh Hill directly across from Canadian Tire, at the end of the plaza. About 2 minutes away from the Pen Centre Mall.
What type of chiropractic services do you provide?
The Activator Method is used exclusively in our office.
